Hi. My name is Mandy and after watching the movie "Julie & Julia" last week, I have been inspired to do my own spin-off of it. (Although I doubt my blog will get anywhere near as huge as Julie Powell's did!) Here are the first few things I thought of:
-Try every flavor of Ben & Jerry's ice cream
-Read every book written by Roald Dahl
-Eat my way through a restaurant menu
-Cook my way through a cookbook. (As a tribute to Julie & Julia, but I'll be honest, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" seems pretty daunting).
I'll work on a couple at a time, and blog about what I finish. Also, to keep up interest, I'll work on one shorter project and one longer project, so I can keep motivated.
Ideas? Suggestions? Comments? I'd love to hear them.
~Amanda

Pick a different cookbook to do. Say, like, something healthy since you'll be finishing each dinner with some Ben & Jerry's. ;-) maybe try one of Rachael Ray's cookbooks - 30-min meals. I know Kim would be thrilled with help in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI loved that movie too and I'm so glad we saw that together up in Santa Barbara, where all the classy, old people live, and weird, cookie, snake rescuers live.
P.S. "Hey, that lady brought her cute, little dog in to the theater with her - oh, wait, never mind, that's just her sweater." Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Hey Amanda, I loved that movie, and I love cooking, so for my birthday in March Taylor bought me the Julie Childs cookbook. It is a very daunting book, and I've only made one recipe so far, but it was good! This is a fun blog you've started
ReplyDeleteOh that's way cool Rebecca! Have you done more sewif projectssince you've been married? I just remembered how excited you were about that class you were taking and your table decor. I hope you can have some people over for dinner and share some classic Julia Child cooking and a beautiful table to go with it!! I want to hear all about it. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, you just have to try the Boeuf Bourgingon stew sometime soon... It is soo amazing... My new favorite crockpot dish!
